Road works, c. 1920

Bell, cowCircular shaped brass bell with slightly concave straight sides. The top of the bell is flat. There is an elongated strap of metal which has been bolted to the top of the bell. This piece is a later addition and not part of the original construction.

Churn, butterWooden butter churn, with lid, metal churning handle and wooden internal churning mechanism. Lettering on outside is in black ink and reads "T1"

Pats, butterA pair of wooden butter pats with a corrugated surface on one side of each.

Cooler, butterTwo circular bowls made of plaster of Paris used for keeping butter cool. Containers are porous and soaked in water, butter is placed inside one and covered by the other and kept cool by evaporation of the water.

Press, butterRectangular wooden box with an open bottom, fixed together with dovetailing, reinforced with screws. In the top is a hole into which fits a cylindrical wooden handle attached to a rectangular block of wood with a pattern carved into its base. The handle moves up and down to imprint the pattern onto the butter.

Mould, butterWooden butter mould, circular in shape with smaller turned handle. Motif consists of an acorn with branch and leaves, surrounded by a zig-zag pattern.

Bell, cowCast iron cow bell, in two sections welded together.
