Merricks North: Jack Johnson.
Jack Johnson resided on the Downward property and worked as a trapper and general hano date. He with others began the custom of hanging dead foxes on a tree at the junction of Balnarring and Tubbarubba Roads, which site was later known as Foxeys Hangout. He was murdered in his cottage in the 1950s.
