HISTORY

William Hurley, an early settler in Balnarring, here commemorted by a memorial card commisioned by his family from The Australian Memorial Card Company, Elizabeth St, Melbourne.
William and Joanna Hurley arrived in the area of Balnarring prior to 1865. They camped on Buckley’s land for three years before selecting lots 109 & 109a in Balnarring Road. They had a family of 13 children. The family had a mixed enterprise of farming, orchading, bullock team carriertransport, brickmaking, a store and bakehouse in Sorrento, a ‘store’ in the family home.
