HISTORY

Somers1937. Tom Gowe clearing rushes out of Coolart lagoon.
Luxton, a local contractor, purchased the estate in 1937 and created a nature reserve, deepened the lagoon and creating islands in it. The islands became nesting sites for water birds, especially Australasian Ibis.
The photograph was accompanied by an article written by the Coolart ranger.
