Gertrude Pichler and Ryszard Pichler migrated from post World War II Europe to Australia. After a period in the Somers Migrant Hostel they settled in Balnarring and established a poultry farm. They added petrol bowsers and a ‘Chicken Bar’ which sold hot cooked chickens. Their business sold petrol into the late hours and at weekends while their chicken take-away operated: a great convenience at that time to locals and visitors.
