HISTORY

Balnarring c.1905. Wedding of Phillip Vansuylen and Lyn Huntley. Phil was a son of the pioneers Paul and Johanna van Suylen who built ‘Warrawee’. Catherine Evelyn (Lyn) Huntley, daughter of Annie Huntley of Merricks/Red Hill, was an accpomplished pianist. The couple had their own farm in Flinders Road Bittern:’Balatara’: dairy cows, small orchard, sheep. Later Phil also worked in the district as a bullock driver, wood chopper and at the Naval Base as a plumber’s assistant.
