HISTORYOn the back of the postcard is written in purple ink “Dear Johnie Hoping you are all well. This is a Vew [sic] of Hasting jetty. From your loving cousin Andrew” Addressee is “Master Johnie Campbell”. Andrew Campbell was a storekeeper in the at Hastings. The bearded man in the photograph halfway down the jetty facing left is Alex Reid senior.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows Hastings jetty, with fishing boats moored on either side. There is a derrick at the end of the jetty and a railway line runs down the centre of the jetty. Fishing nets are draped over both sides and there are about fifteen people on the jetty, most appearing to be fishermen mending the nets.
