On the reverse side of the postcard are the words “Hastings Mar 5th 18 Dear Bill, am just sending this photo but its not too good. See Tiger in front of office verandah. Am also sending one of the front street. They are really dark. Mr. is down here, said he saw you lately. Hope Renee Uncle Waldy & Auntie Em are all well. Show these to Uncle Waldy & all that you can tell. Uncle Mat”. This house was built by Mr Dan Hoban, who lived with his mother and sisters at the Hastings Hotel which they owned from 1904 to 1918

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a double fronted timber house with a decorative bullnosed verandah and a galvanised iron roof. The right section has a picket fence and gate in front. The left section has the words “Post Office” above the verandah with several posters fixed to the wall. Two men are standing on the verandah with a bicycle.
