DESCRIPTION

This image shows the Hastings railway station, looking towards the east. Behind the platform are 3 small buildings, one with a verandah which was presumably the waiting room. There are 2 signs with the word “HASTINGS” on them. Four people are on the platform and there are 2 horses and buggies drawn up behind, with goods piled up on the platform. To the left on the other side of the tracks is a goods shed. In the foreground is a pile of fish boxes marked Borrett, one of the fish salesmen at the Melbourne Fish Market. A pile of fruit boxes is also in the foreground.
