HISTORY

This is a photo of the Reorganised Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The building was erected in 1887 and finished in 1888. It had an exaggerated high roof and was designed by T.W. Smith after his visit to the Society Islands. In 1952, the building was moved to Frankston. Typed on a strip of paper and glued to the back of the photo is: “Reorganised Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. (Building transferred to Frankston in 1952).”.

DESCRIPTION

The image is of a wooden church with a white post and wire fence. There is an outside toilet at the back on the left-hand side of the photo. A telegraph pole can be seen in the distance on the right-hand side of the photo. There are large trees on the front right-hand side and behind the church. A small section of the footpath and road can be seen and there are tall weeds on the footpath to the right of the church.
