HISTORYThis hotel is situated between Marine Parade, Hodgins Road and Coolstore Road - Western side. It is the original Western Port Hotel. Written on the back of the photograph is:” Ryan” and “J. Babington 148 Coolart Rd Hastings”. “202 High Street” has been crossed out.
DESCRIPTIONThis image is of a single storey, bungalow style building with three small doors and six windows across the front. A large board on a stand at the front reads: “O’Reilly’s Western Port Hotel”. There is a horse and cart with a man driving on the left-hand side of the photograph. Another man on horseback is near the hotel sign and on the right of the photograph is another horse and cart with a man in the cart and another man standing beside the cart wearing a three piece suit, hat and overcoat. A gaslight is above the sign and a ladder is under the sign. Large trees can be seen at the back of the building. A road is in the foreground.
