HISTORY

This photograph is of the McLellan Family. James McLellan with John Sykes, John Stone, Thos Allchin, James Flood, Henry Dunn and Benjamin John Benton purchased land on 14/05/1863 for a school and church site in Three Chain Road, a short distance south of the Mornington-Tyabb Road. (Moorooduc Common School 825). Written on the back of the photograph in blue biro is: “McLellan Family About 1890 or 1886”.

DESCRIPTION

This image is of a weatherboard house with a large brick chimney on either side. The roof is galvanised iron. A wooden fence can be seen along the side of the house. Posing for the photo in front of the house are two men on the left hand side of the photograph, a woman standing near the open front door wearing an apron and a bearded man seated holding an infant on his knee. There is a woman standing next to him, holding onto a verandah post and another woman standing near the end of the house. Between them, a woman wearing an apron is sitting and a child is leaning against her. There is a tree in the foreground on the left-hand side of the photograph and garden growing cabbages is in the foreground. Stamped on the side of the photograph is “F.A. Kirton - Photographer”.
