HISTORYThis photograph shows some students from Wesley College on an outing to Hastings during Easter, 1907. Written on the back of the photograph in black pen in beautiful writing is: ‘Armadale “Wesleys” “The Tree” Hastings Easter 1907 31/3/07’.
DESCRIPTIONThis image is of a gum tree with college students posing on a ladder all along the trunk of the tree. There are ten men, one behind the other and one man is ‘suspended’ out to the side with one hand and one foot on the trunk. They are all wearing three-piece suits and small caps on their heads. Western Port and the foreshore are in the background. What appears to be a rope is seen to the left of the photograph.
