HISTORY

This is one of a colourized series of postcards of Somerville, Victoria. Printed on the front of the postcard is “Private Hospital, Somerville. Vic.”. According to Joy Coleman and Jim Harris, the photographer took the wrong house and labelled it the Somerville Private Hospital. This is the home of Charlie Thornell at Eramosa Road East, Somerville. Printed on the back is: “Post Card For Correspondence For Address”.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a lovely old home with a red roof and verandah all around. There is a small building at the rear on the left-hand side of the home. There is a front fence and part of a side fence can be seen between another building. A concrete footpath, grass and the street is in the foreground. A tree is on the footpath surrounded by a boxed support frame. There are large trees to the left and rear of the image. A flower garden has been planted across the front, just outside of the front fence Printed at the bottom of the postcard is: “Private Hospital, Somerville. Vic.”.
