HISTORY

This photograph is of Bill Armstrong driving the Perrott & Co Butchers Van. He worked for Perrott’s Butchers doing deliveries of meat in the 1920s and 1930s. This photo was taken in 1929. On the back of the photograph written in blue biro is: “from Bruce Bennett 1929 Bill Armstrong at the wheel P. Perrot collection”.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows an old-style delivery van with the words PERROTT & CO BUTCHERS on the side. The spokes in the wheels are made of wood and there is a running board. There are no doors on the van. A spare tyre is attached at the side on an ‘A’ frame. The steering wheel has a very long stem and there is a large front mudguard over the front wheel. There is a man sitting behind the wheel. Trees can be seen on both sides and at the back of the photograph.
