HISTORYThis is a photograph of Arthur Robert Haywood. He was born in January, 1895 and died in August, 1981, aged 86 years. He was the first resident medical practitioner in Hastings. His mother’s family was heard of at Sandstone Island, in Western Port Bay, near Hastings. Written on the back of the postcard in black ink is: “Arthur R Haywood October 1917 Apres”. Also printed on the back is: “Post Card Correspondence Address only Kodak Australia”.
DESCRIPTIONThis oval image shows a portrait of a man from the chest up. The photo is taken slightly side-on. He is wearing a three-piece suit. His white shirt has a very high collar. He has a large moustache and neatly combed hair with a part on the left-hand side. The photographer’s name is embossed on the bottom right-hand side of the mounting.
