HISTORYThis post card of Queen Alexandra, along with the one of King Edward VII, was very popular with Australian families. Written on the back in blue biro is: “To Miss L.A. Peterson 1902”. Also printed on the back in brown is: “PORTRAIT BAS-RELIEF CARD The J.B. & Co Series. For Inland Postage only. DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a colourized, embossed portrait of Queen Alexandra. She is beautifully dressed and has jewels and brooches on her dress. A wide sash is across her body. She is wearing a crown on top of her curly hair, earrings and many necklaces. The embossing on the photograph is picked out in glitter. The background is coloured blue. Printed on the bottom left-hand side of the photograph is “J.B. & Co” and on the opposite side is “760”. Printed across the bottom on the mounting, left to right is: “Alexandra Agency” “H.M. Queen Alexandra” and W.S. Stuart Richmond”.
