HISTORYThis is a photograph of Marjorie McKibbon. She was born in Caufield, Victoria in 1897. She is the sister of Dr Arthur Haywood. Written on the back of the photograph is: “Taken at Marjorie McKibbon (nee Haywood) living 5 North St, Nunawading, Victoria: My parents moved to Sandstone Island when I was 2 years old. Left Island when Flinders Naval Depot bought Island. aged 79, 1976. Born Caufield 1897. Parents Arthur Robert Haywood & Patience Maine Heard. Sister of Arthur Robert Haywood born Caufield 1895. Gilbert Thomas Bunce born R Melb Hospital 1906”.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows an elderly woman standing in a vegetable garden. She has just dug up a large plant which she has in her left hand. She has a spade in her right hand. He is wearing a white embroided, short sleeved blouse with a small brooch at the top where the collar meets. She is wearing a plaid skirt with an inverted pleat in the centre. Her legs are wrapped in bandages. She is wearing spectacles and has a happy smile on her face. Her grey hair is untidy. There is a high wooden fence behind her.
