HISTORYThis is a photograph of the family butcher shop of F.G. Perrott in early Hastings. In 1895, the shop was located at the Parade, now Marine Parade.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a shop with a group of people standing outside posing for the camera. On the left of the photograph is a man with a bicycle. Next to him a woman, nursing a baby and a small child is standing next to her. Next is a man wearing a long black coat, a small girl, a small boy and a man wearing a striped butcher’s apron. A man is leaning against the post on the far right of the photograph. The sign on the shop reads: “F.G. Perrott Family Butcher”. The shop is of timber construction with a large glass window to the left of the open front door and a large opening in the wall to the right of the door. It has a front verandah with four wooden posts. A picket fence is on either side of the shop. There is a footpath, a gutter and part of the street in the foreground.
