HISTORY

This image is of Mr Fred Perrott’s Butcher Shop taken about 1916. The men in the photograph, left to right, are as follows: Albert Perrott, Fred Perrott, Joe Van Suylan and Jack Shaw.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a weather-board building with a galvanised iron roof and a verandah across the front with four posts. A sign, F.G. Perrott Butcher, is on the roof of the verandah. There is a picket fence on either side of the building. A building can be seen on the left-hand side of the image and a bushy tree on the right-hand side of the image. Standing posing for the photograph in front of the shop are four men. There are two horses and carts. Two men are standing in front of the horse and cart on the left-hand side of the photograph and another man is sitting in the cart. The man on the left is wearing a butcher’s apron, coat and hat and has his right thumb heavily bandaged. The man in the cart is wearing a coat and hat and holding the reins and the man on the right is wearing high-waisted trousers with braces and a long sleeved shirt. The man standing beside the horse and cart on the right-hand side of the photograph is wearing a butcher’s apron, coat, white shirt and tie and a cap. They are all standing on the roadside and there is a footpath behind them. There are two dogs in the photograph. One is lying beside the fence and the other is sitting between the two carts. Written in blue biro on white paper and glued to the bottom of the mounting is: “Perrott’s Butchers Shop about 1916 Mr Fred Perrott Mr Joe Van Suylen Mr Albert Perrott Mr Jack Shaw”.
