HISTORYThese are the Chinese crew members of the boat “Paringa”, taken at Stony Point in December, 1934. The original photo was taken by Arthur Paterson. Written in blue biro on the back of one of the copies is: “Chinese crew members “Paringa” 1934”.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows five Chinese men standing on a railway line on a jetty, posing for a photograph. Another man is standing on the railway line in the background. The man on the left-hand side of the photograph has his right leg out to the side. All are wearing long sleeved jackets and dark trousers, except the man on the right, who is wearing light coloured trousers. One man is wearing a hat and one a cap. There are wooden rails on either side of the jetty. Boats can be seen in the far background. Printed at the bottom of the image is: “Some Chinese crew members of the illfated PARINGA at Stony Point Dec 1934.
