HISTORYThese are the Chinese crew members of the boat “Paringa”, taken at Stony Point in December, 1934. They are loading stores, probably rice, from a truck onto the boat. The original photo was taken by Arthur Paterson.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a group of men loading supplies onto a boat. There are several men on the deck of the boat and a man is carrying a bag on his shoulders from a truck to the boat. In the foreground of the image the tray of a truck can be seen parked beside the boat, where four more men can be seen picking up bags from a big pile on the tray of the truck. A large bag is lying on the end of the truck. Printed at the bottom of the image is: “Loading stores aboard the PARINGA at Stony Point Dec. 1934.”.
