HISTORYThese are the Chinese crew members of the boat “Paringa”, taken at Stony Point in December, 1934. They are loading stores, probably rice, from a truck onto the boat. The boat “VINCAS” is at anchor in the background. The original photo was taken by Arthur Peterson.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows men loading bags of supplies from the back of a truck, parked on a jetty, onto a boat. Some men are standing around and a couple of men are sitting on the wharf watching. There are several small wagons with supplies, parked on the wharf near the truck. Some tall masts can be seen on both sides of the image. Four posts under the jetty can be seen on the left-hand foreground of the image. Printed at the bottom of the image is: “Paringa taking on stores at Stony Loading stores aboard PARINGA at Stony Point VINCAS at anchor in the background Dec. 1934”.
