HISTORYThis house is one of a pair of houses opposite the old police station in High Street, Hastings. The police station was at 80 High Street, Hastings. The photograph was copied from the D. Harle Collection. Written on the back in blue biro is: “High St Hast one of pair opposite old police station D. Harle collection”. Also written in pencil is: “50 High St Hastings donated Bruce Bennett”.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows an old house taking up most the photograph. It is of timber construction and has an iron roof. A set of three windows are on either side of the front door. There are blinds and lace curtains at the windows. The house is on low stumps and a block of wood in used for a step at the front door. A ladies bicycle with a basket on the front, is leaning against the house. There is grass in the foreground and trees can be seen in the background on the far right-hand side of the photograph. Photograph ‘corners’ are seen on each corner of the photograph.
