HISTORYThis is Peterson’s Garage at Stony Point. The man behind the wheel is Arthur Peterson. The car could be a Halia. It would have been raced at Phillip Island. Cars travelled by ferry to Phillip Island for the races. More history on the Phillip Island car races cars can be found in the book “Stony Point The Heart of Western Port” by Bruce Bennett and Arthur Woodley. A later Peterson’s Garage was at Crib Point.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a man sitting in a racing car posing for the camera. There is a large shed behind him on the left-hand side of the image. A building can be seen behind a line of trees, both big and small, in the background behind a fence. Another small building can be seen on the right-hand side of the image. A petrol bowser is at the front of the shed and the word SHELL can be seen along the side of the shed.
