HISTORYThis racing car is being hoisted aboard the ‘Alvina’, a ferry that transported cars to Phillip Island for the car races. Captain Clarke is the man driving the winch. The year was possibly 1928. More history on the Phillip Island car races cars can be found in the book “Stony Point The Heart of Western Port” by Bruce Bennett and Arthur Woodley.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a racing car being loaded onto a boat. The car has the number 14 in large numbers on the car. There is a large crane lifting the car and a man, wearing a cap, is standing behind the crane engine. Several people can be seen in the background watching.
