HISTORYThis portrait is of the Haddock Family. Back: Joe Haddock, Minnie (Amelia) Haddock and William Haddock. Middle: Grandpa John Haddock and his wife. Front: Harold Haddock and Alf Haddock. John Haddock is Bill Haddock’s grandfather. The names of the family are written in biro on the back of the photograph along with the following: “The Haddock family Photo taken approx 62 years ago. 1898 The property of Harold Haddock Plymouth Street Hastings No 11”.
DESCRIPTIONThis image is a family portrait taken outdoors. There are three people standing at the back, two people seated on chairs and two boys sitting on a rug on the ground. Everyone is well dressed. The two men at the back are wearing three-piece suits with ties and fob chains. They each have one hand on their hip. The woman standing between them is wearing a long sleeved dress, the top having a wide collar that sweeps down to the waistline and has a lace collar at the neck. The man sitting is wearing a three-piece suit with the coat buttoned at the top and a small black tie. The woman beside him has and long-sleeved dress with a small capped sleeve, pleating on the bodice, a high white collar with lace bow. The young man on the rug is wearing a three-piece suit as is the boy beside him who has a large white collar, small tie, pants to the knee with leggings underneath. Everyone has a stern look on their faces. There are trees behind them and some water can be seen on the right-hand side of the photograph.
