HISTORYThis is photograph of a group of men sitting outside a hotel, most likely the Royal Hotel, now the Western Port Hotel. It is on Main Street, Hastings and over the road in the background, nearest building, is the blacksmith shop of W.G. Smith. Written on the back of the photograph in pencil is: “25-7-1913” plus the photographers details.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a group of seven men outside a building. The building is brick and there are three verandah posts visible. One man is sitting on a box which bears the inscription “Victoria Bitter Ale”. One man is standing beside a bicycle. He has a pipe in his mouth. Behind him is a man sitting in a four-wheeled wagon with a horse. Three other men are standing and another is sitting. A piece of galvanised iron is lying on the ground and there are buildings in the background. Printed in white on the bottom of the photograph is: “At the Pumps Club Hotel Hastings 25-7-13”.
