HISTORY

This is a photograph of Harold (Doll) Haddock at age 13 years. He was a bugler in the Hastings 40 pounded Bullock Battery. Written on the back of the photograph in blue biro is: “No 14 Bugler Haddock Hastings 40 pr Bullock Battery”. Also written in black pen is: “Harold age 13 yrs.”.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a portrait of a boy in uniform, taken from the waist up. His uniform has a small, high, dark, collar at the neck and two large pockets. He has a wide, dark belt and a pillbox hat with a chin strap. Printed at the bottom on the mounting is “Cole’s Studio Book Arcade”. Attached to the mounting with tape is a piece of card that reads: “Harrold Haddock 13 years”. There are dark marks where sticky tape has been removed. The mounting has an embossed pattern.
