HISTORY

This photograph is of a reunion of the Old Victorian Rangers in Melbourne. They had an annual reunion, most likely on Anzac Day. Harold Haddock is the man holding the banner on the right. Written on the back of the photograph in pencil is: “Miss B. Sheppard (Photo) Margaret St Camberwell”. Also written in blue biro is: “Harold Haddock is person holding banner on right”.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a large group of men holding a banner posing for a photograph in the middle of a street. Written on the banner is “1886 Old Victorian Rangers 1912”. All the men are very well dressed in suits, ties and coats and all are wearing hats. Some are wearing medals and ribbons. Four men in the centre of the photograph are sitting or kneeling and the remainder are standing. One man is holding a flag. Some men are partly obscured behind the banner, but there are approximately 22 men in the photograph. One man is standing watching on the far left-hand side of the photograph. Buildings are on either side of the street. Two names can be read on one building on the left-hand side of the photograph, “Cassell’s” and “John Withers & Son”. “Taylor Used Cars” sign can be seen on a tall building on the right-hand side of the photograph.
