HISTORYThis is the Peninsula Football team taken at the Frankston ground in 1946. They played the Central Gippsland team and won by one point. Not all the players have been identified. They are, back row, left to right, Don Calder, Bob Stone, Ron Aik, Frank Graham, Tom Barclay. ......., ......., ........ centre row, Jack Roberts, ......., ......., ......., ......., ......., Ray Denham, George Gomm. front row, ......., ......, Alby Giles. Written on the back of the photograph in blue biro is: “Jean Peters”.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a football team with their supporters and spectators. The footballers are in three rows, eight in the back row, seven sitting in the middle row and three crouched in the front row. They have long-sleeved dark shirts, white shorts and a sash across their shoulder to the waist. Two men, wearing all white are standing on either side of the team and a man wearing an overcoat is standing on the far right-hand side of the photograph. There are spectators behind the players and more can be seen in the stand behind them. The stand is wooden with a wooden railing with cross pieces of timber in each section. There is grass in the foreground.
