HISTORY

This photograph is at an orchard at Hastings. The man on the right-hand side of the photograph is William John Haddock, son of Joseph and Mary Haddock. The man in the centre is Frank Oliver, Mary Haddock’s husband. The man on the left is an unnamed friend. Written on the back of the photograph in blue biro is: “William John Haddock son of Joseph & Mary Grayden Rd Hastings Centre Frank E. Oliver naval man on leave now my husband Mary Oliver on left unknown friend”. William John’s orchard was in Watts Road, Hastings, (now Frankston-Flinders Road) and his parents orchard was at Grayden’s Road, Hastings.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows three men standing in front of a fruit tree posing for a photo. The man on the left-hand side of the photograph is short. He is wearing a three piece suit and leaning on a box of fruit. The man in the centre is wearing a white shirt with sleeves rolled up to the elbow. His trousers are help up with a wide belt. He is wearing a hat and has one hand on the back of the man next to him. The other man on the right-hand side is wearing a short sleeved shirt, a waistcoat and has his hat under his arm. He has greying hair and a moustache. There are two boxes of fruit on the ground.
