HISTORY

This photograph is of maternal ancestors of William Haddock of Hastings. The couple standing either side of the horse are John Maine and his wife. The lady on the left is unknown. Written on the back of the photograph in blue biro is: “middle John Maine’s wife John Maine”.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows three elderly people, two women and one man, standing posing for a photograph. A horse is standing behind the man and looking over the man’s right shoulder. The man is holding the horse by a rope. The woman on the left of the photograph is wearing a dark coloured, long-sleeved blouse and skirt. The woman in the middle is much shorter and is wearing a white long-sleeved blouse and a light coloured skirt. The man is wearing a three-piece suit and has a moustache and beard. A post and rail fence can be seen in the background and a line of trees in the far background.
