HISTORYThis photograph of Hastings School children belonged to Mary Oliver(nee Haddock). Mary is one of the students. Written on the back of the photograph in blue biro is: “Mary Oliver Watts Rd Hastings c1925 50yr over”.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a large group of children, in five rows, posing for a photograph in front of their school. There are ten children in the back row, fifteen children in the second back row, eleven children in the middle row, fifteen children in the second front row and twelve children sitting on the ground, cross-legged in the front row. Two boys in the front row are holding a small blackboard which reads: “Hastings School 1098 Grades I to IV”. The wall behind the children is brick with two large windows. Three air vents can also be seen along the wall.
