HISTORYThis photograph of Hastings School children belonged to Mary Oliver(nee Haddock). Mary is one of the students. Mary is the sister of William Haddock. Written on the back of the photograph in blue biro is: “Mary Oliver Watts Rd Hastings”. The photographers details are also stamped on the back along with 1/6 which has been stamped in large numbers.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a group of six rows of school children posing for a photograph. There are seventeen children in the back row, nineteen children in the second back row, eighteen children in the third back row, twenty children in the third front row, nineteen children in the second front row and fourteen children sitting on the grass in the front row. Two of the children are holding a blackboard which reads: “Hastings School 1098 -1933-”. They are in front of a brick wall which has two large windows. Three air-vents can also be seen. The grass is unkept and there is a stone path running through it.
