HISTORYThis is the Somerville Football Club along with the boundary umpire, Mr S. Thornell and the Coach, Mr Len Incigneri. They were the 1928 Premiers. The names of the players are as follows: back row: C. Harding, J. Unthank, E. McConville, T. Pearce, N. Plant, S. Clarke and C. White. middle row: W. Whitcombe, C. Iles, G. Grant, W. Craig, L. Pitt, W. Jouning, K. Wood, J. Wood. front row: N. Unthank, R. Jessup, J. Gregory, S. Callanin, J. O’Reilly, R. Grant, H. Nilsson, S. Thornell and J. Sullivan.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a football team posing for a photograph. There are seven men in the back row, eight men in the middle row and nine men in the front row. A man in white is standing on the far left-hand side of the photograph and a man in a double-breasted, three-piece suit and tie is standing on the right-hand side. A player in the centre of the front row is holding a football which has the words: “Premiers 1928 M.P.F.A.”. Large trees are behind the men and a score board can be seen in the background on the left-hand side. The names of the players are written in blue biro on a piece of paper which has been glued to the bottom of the mounting. The photographers particulars are also printed on the mounting.
