DESCRIPTION

This image shows a packing shed with male and female workers packing boxes with apples. The workers are wearing aprons. There is a man on the far left-hand side in a long sleeved white shirt, tie and vest. All the boxes in the foreground are full. There are many empty boxes beside the workers who are standing one behind the other. More full boxes can be seen behind them. The shed has a high sloped galvanised iron roof and all the timber beams are exposed. Painted in white on one of the beams is: “May here first 1323-24”. An ‘Important’ notice hands from another beam. The photographers details are stamped on the bottom left-hand corner of the mounting board. Written across the bottom of the mounting board in blue biro is: “Packing Shed Somerville”.
