HISTORYThis is most probably a wedding group. Written on the back in blue ink is: “1878-1879”. Also written in blue biro is: From The Home of George Helgerson, Hodgins Rd., Hastings Presented by Mrs Finn 4 Barcoo St., Hastings”.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a group of five men and four women posing for a photograph outside a weather-board building. Three men and two women are standing in the back row, two men and two women are sitting in the front row. Everyone is beautifully dressed. All the men are wearing three-piece suits and the men in the back row have a flower in their coat lapels. The two men in the front row have beards and are old. The woman on the far right in the striped dress is also older. The young woman seated is wearing a very elaborate dress and has flowers in her hair. A row of small rocks are on the ground. The photographers details are printed on the right-hand side of the mounting board.
