HISTORYThis plaque was placed in the Pioneer Cottage garden at the Hastings Museum complex on the corner of Skinner and Herring Streets, Hastings, at the opening of the Remembrance Garden of Peace.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a plaque attached to a large stone. It reads as follows: “Remembrance Garden of Peace 1945-1995 ‘Lest We Forget’ Established by Hastings-Western Port Historical Society Inc. Unveiled 11.11.95 by Lieut. Colonel P.E. Rhoden OBE ,E.D. R.L.”. The date 20 2 ‘96 is printed at the bottom of the photograph. Another plaque reads: “This garden was formulated with the help of Australia Remembers Committee Brundretts & Sons (roses) P/L Debco P/L Jim Littlefield Mornington Peninsula Shire Council Northcote Pottery Services P/L Panorama Nursery Ross Roses (SA) Warren Park Nursery and memberws of Hastings Western Port Historical Society Inc. 11-11-1995”.
