HISTORYThis is the 1928 M.P.F.A. premiership team from Somerville. This information is typed on a small piece of card and glued to the back of the photograph along with the donor’s name B. Maslen.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a football team and its staff, posing for a photograph in front of a large tree. There are twenty men standing and sitting, dressed in suits, white shirts and ties. One man is dressed all in white. There are twenty-four footballers standing and sitting in three rows. There are eight players standing, eight players sitting on a stool and eight players sitting cross-legged on the grass. All players have their arms crossed except for one. There is a football on the ground between two players which reads: “Premiers 1928 M.P.F.A.”. A post and rail fence can be seen behind the men as well as other trees in the background. The photographers details are printed on the mounting on the right-hand corner. A crown and the writing ‘by special appointment’ is embossed on the top left-hand corner of the mounting.
