HISTORY

No history is known about this couple, but could be family of Mary Marshall who donated the photograph to the Society. Pasted onto a back of the mounting board is a photograph cut out of a magazine “Table Talk’ from 05/02/1931. The photograph is of a group of young men on a pier, riding on a wagon, being pulled by a horse. The caption under the photograph reads: “Having a great old time at the Public Schools camp at Cowes. - A jolly group of the boys pictured on the pier.” Also written in ink is: “Stoney Point Taken January 28th 31”.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a portrait of a woman and a man taken from the knees up. The woman is sitting on a chair. She is wearing a hat and has a fox fur around her neck coming down to her waist. Her dress has large puffed sleeves to the elbow and the remainder of the sleeve is tight fitting to the wrist. She is holding a small purse and gloves in her hands which are resting on her lap. The man is dressed in a three piece suit, shirt, tie and hat. He has a moustache and pipe in his mouth. His left hand is on his hip and his right hand is resting on the back of the chair. The photographers details are embossed on the mounting board at the bottom.
