HISTORYThis is the head teacher, assistant teacher and pupils of the Tyabb State School, No. 3129. Their names are as follows - left to right: Back Row: Mr Henry (head teacher), Cyril Hodkinson, Bob Murray, Vernon King, Vic Longmuir, Harry Unthank and Russ Hanby the assistant teacher. Second Back Row: Addie Steer, Kitty Unthank, Nellie Murray, Milly Meldrum, Jean Murray, Carrie Alden, Milly Hodkinson and Grace Alden. Second Front Row: Jack Murray (standing), ......Gibbs, Joy Murray, .....Lewis, Elvie Woodham, Ellen Horton, .....Gibbs, Albert Pagononi and Harold Alden (standing). DESCRIPTIONThis image shows four rows of school children along with their head teacher and assistant teacher, posing for a photograph in front of a large tree. There are five children standing in the back row, eight children standing in the second back row, nine children in the second front row and four children sitting cross-legged on the ground in the front row. The head teacher is standing in the back row on the far left-hand side and the assistant teacher is standing in the back row on the far right-hand side. The head teacher is wearing a three-piece suit and has a moustache. The assistant teacher is also wearing a three-piece suit. A boy in a stripe suit in the second front row is holding a sign which reads: “Tyabb State School No. 3219”. All the children are very well dressed. All the girls have long hair neatly pulled back, mostly in plaits. The names have been written in blue biro at the top and bottom of the mounting board.
