HISTORY

This group includes Miss Lily Petersen at a picnic at Hepburn Springs, Daylesford. She was Post Mistress at Crib Point from 1917 to 1942, when she took sick leave. She never married and was buried at Crib Point Cemetery on November 13, 1963, aged 87. Written on the back in pencil is: “Auntie Lil Petersen The merry party at Hepburn Springs Daylesford 26/12/1937”.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a group of three men and two women sitting on the grass enjoying a picnic. A motor vehicle is behind them. The man on the left is wearing a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a tie and vest. The man beside him is wearing a three piece suit and the man on the right-hand side is wearing a suit with no tie. The woman on the left has a wide white collar on her dress and the older woman is wearing a print dress. A white table cloth is in front of the group set for a picnic, including a kettle. A person can be seen on a tennis court behind a high wire fence in the background and behind the court someone is sitting on a garden chair. Another garden chair can be seen to his right.
