HISTORY

This is a photograph of Miss Lily Petersen. She was Post Mistress at Crib Point from 1917 to 1942, when she took sick leave. She never married and was buried at Crib Point Cemetery on November 13, 1963, aged 87. Written on the back in pencil is: “Lily Petersen October 1943”. Also stamped on the back is: “1 17”.

DESCRIPTION

This image is a full length photo of a woman posing for a photograph. Half of the photograph has been burnt and torn away. The woman is wearing a two piece suit with a high necked white blouse. She is wearing a hat, tilted to the side and has a smile on her face. A brooch in the shape of Australia is on her left lapel and white gloves can be seen in her right hand. A large rock appears to be behind her and part of a tree can be seen behind that.
