HISTORYThis photograph is of Miss Lily Petersen and some of her family members. Written on the back in blue ink is: “Taken at Mornington Sept 20th 1947”. Also written in pencil is: “Auntie Lil Petersen”. The photographers details are also stamped on the back. Miss Lily Petersen was Post Mistress at Crib Point from 1917 to 1942, when she took sick leave. She never married and was buried at Crib Point Cemetery on November 13, 1963, aged 87.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows an elderly woman sitting on the grass with a young woman and two children. The young woman is dressed in a suit and hat. She has a bar brooch pinned to her right lapel. The elderly woman is wearing a dark coloured dress with a brooch pinned at the neck and she has a handbag over her left arm. She is holding something in her hands. The little girl is eating. She is wearing a jumper and has two bows in her hair. The little boy has a striped jumper under his overalls which have a sailing boat at the front. The young woman and the children all have a rosette and ribbons pinned on to their clothes. The legs of other people sitting on the grass can be seen behind them.
