HISTORY

This is the wedding of Merle Peterson (Oscar’s daughter) and Jim Kennedy. It was held in St Marys Church, Melbourne in the late 1930s. Merle was born in 1917 and is the daughter of Oscar Peterson. Written on the back in blue pen is: “Merle Peterson Married Jim Kennedy”. “Kodak Print Velox” is also stamped on the back and the numbers 8 and 10 are stamped on the back in blue.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a bride and groom standing in the doorway of a church at the bottom of the steps . The bride has a long, white dress, flowers on the top of her head and a three-quarter length veil. She is carrying a large bouquet of flowers. The groom is wearing a three-piece suit and has a flower pinned to his left lapel. The bride is holding his left arm. Part of the bridesmaid and bestman can be seen behind the couple. The bridesmaid is wearing a hat with flowers on the top and a short veil. The church has large sandstone bricks and a carved pattern in the arch. There are two pillars with ornate tops either side of the steps.
