HISTORYThis shop is in Salmon Street, Hastings. The woman standing beside the Bistro is Joy Coleman. This photograph is from the Len Tolson Collection.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a small building with a woman standing beside it posing for a photograph. The building has a large green sign at the top which reads: “The Shanty Bistro”. There is a large green canvas blind across the front of the building. There is a large window with a lace curtain in the lower half and a sign above it. A front door is beside the window. More writing is on the front of the shop to the left of the window. The woman is wearing a print dress, white shoes and has her hands clasped at the front. Part of a building can be seen at the rear of the shop. A small tree with yellow flowers in front of it is on the left-hand side of the image. A large tree is behind a tall wooden fence on the right-hand side of the image. a brown rubbish bin and a road sign is on the footpath and a bitumen street is in the foreground.
