HISTORYThis is the Tyabb Scout Group which was under the leadership of Rev A.C. Miles of the Anglican Holy Trinity, Hastings. He had been appointed in 1926 and his parish covered Hastings, Tyabb, Crib Point, Bittern, Moorooduc and French Island. The photo was taken on the foreshore in Hastings. The Western Port and Hastings jetty are in the background. The man at the far right is Vern Borly. Written on the back in blue pen is: “TYABB SCOUT GROUP Vern Borly in suit extreme right Rachel Borley 51560323 seemed a pity to burn it”.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a large group of scouts and cubs, along with their Scout Masters, standing in three rows, posing for a photo. There are approximately thirty-two cubs and scouts in the photograph. Two scout masters are crouched at the front on either side of the boys. Two scouts are holding flags. There are many onlookers in the background, including and man and boy standing on the far right-hand side of the image and a group of four people sitting on the grass. Mangroves and water can be seen in the background and a jetty with sheds in the far-right hand background.
