HISTORYThis is a photograph of the Tyabb airport, taken in January, 1990. A member of the Peninsula Aero Club set off a ‘big bang’ to celebrate the land acquisition needed to the south. In July 1994, the diversion of Olivers Creek, originally undertaken in 1872, was filled as a part of the $1,000,000 drainage works to stop flooding of Tyabb and the airport.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a man crouching on the grass with his back to the camera, setting off an explosion. He is wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans. The bottom half of the photograph is green grass. More grass can be seen in the background behind small trees and the smoke from the explosion. Tall trees and shrubs can be seen on the left-hand side of the image as well as in the background. A single tall pole can be seen in the distance in the centre of the image.
