HISTORY

This image shows a group of Hastings-Western Port Historical Society members on a visit to Poowong. The photo was taken outside the Pioneer Chapel. The members names are as follows - left to right: Len Harris, Edwin Mawson, Charles McClelland, Diane Mentiplay (with back to camera), David Mason, Lynda Allison, Beverley Mason, Sarah Mannion, Margaret Pilch, Janet and David Wilson, Jamie Mason, Shirley Davies (in yellow dress), Doug Mentiplay and Jim Harris. This information is written on the back of the photograph.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a group of fifteen people standing in front of a picket fence, posing for a photo. One person has a small dog on a lead. A small wooden building is behind the fence. A sign board in front of the building reads “Pioneer Chapel”. The chapel and fence are painted cream with brown trimmings. The chapel has a narthex with a panel door and three gable finials can be seen on the building. Pencil pine trees and brick posts are on either side of the gate. Trees can be seen beside and behind the chapel and green grass, with a large bare patch, is in the foreground.
